Gregory Hines Tap Shoes
Tradition Started by Martin "Tre" Dumas III on August 27, 2006 "They brought these out on stage by my request. And I want everybody to know exactly what these are. These are a pair of Gregory Hines tap shoes. These actually belonged to and were worn by and danced in Mr. Gregory Hines himself. There is an old tradition at the Apollo Theater, they have a log on the side of the stage that is very important to all of the performers that come out there and when they come out on stage, they stop on their way out and pay their respects and they rub the log. So when I found out that Andrew had a pair of these, I begged him to bring them out so upon entering the stage, I could pay my respects and rub the shoes." And now a tradition has been born. Gregory's shoes will appear on stage at every Tap Into A Cure finale concert. |
