About Us

Tap Into A Cure has been an annual fundraising workshop for various charities. However beginning 2009 Tap Into A Cure will be a workshop that will exclusively fundraise for TAP: The Africa Project. Canada’s premiere tap experience began in 2006 with idea of promoting tap dancing and providing dancers with classes from the Masters, while raising money for charity. In 2006, the first year included two days of classes, and a finale show that successfully raised $8000 for The Stollery Children’s Hospital.

The following year, the workshop grew to three days, a finale show, and included a tap jam at West Edmonton Mall, the world’s largest shopping mall. The workshop raised $4000 for the Edmonton School’s Hot Lunch Program, and another $4000 for The Africa Project.

The Africa Project was born in 2007 to raise money to build A library and music room in honour of Dr. Jeni LeGon.

2008 marked Tap Into A Cure’s third year raising an all time high of $10,000. We also had Steffan Clemente join us for amazing hip hop classes and as hip hop derived its roots from tap, we thought it only fitting for hip hop to participate in the joy of giving back to Africa as well. We donated $5000 to the Hope Mission and $5000 to The Africa Project.

We strive to continue our incredible opportunities for tap dancers to take classes from some of the greatest tap masters in the world today, all while raising money to support The Africa Project.
